Patrick Harney

Patrick Harney has been working professionally as a reporter since 2014, and has been employed full-time with Gannett for several years.

Based in Rochester, NY, Patrick's experience extends from working as a breaking news reporter to working in the audiovisual sphere, often shooting his own video and photos.

In 2019, Patrick accepted an offer from the Daily Messenger in Canandaigua to work as a Now Journalist, covering breaking news as needed and other topics. He currently uses his multimedia experience and proven ability to turn around a story quickly for the newsroom.

Past work experience for Patrick includes working at WXXI in the television station's TV Department, responsible for editing and shooting video for a number of programs. During his time at the station, Patrick worked on a variety of programs, assisting and excelling in both technical and content-creation roles. Patrick worked on Monroe County Election nights, regional news programs, statewide educational programs as well as national programs covering the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival and the medical program Second Opinion.

In addition to his duties at the television station, Patrick would also freelance as a writer for a number of Rochester-based news outlets, from 585 Magazine to the Rochester Business Journal.

Among Patrick's career highlights include producing a multimedia segment for WXXI's series "Innovation Trail" and working on a number of video projects, from commercials to corporate video to feature films.
